In the aftermath of the Gudrun and Per storms in 2005 and 2006, a severe shortage of raw material now affects the entire sawmilling and timber industry in South Sweden and we see no sign of improvement in the near future.
The CEO of Jarl Timber AB, Henrik Jarl, and the board of Directors has therefore decided that the production volume in 2010 will be reduced to level that was in place prior to the storms. The annual production volume in 2010 will be decreased to 110.000 m3 from 160 000 m3 in 2009.
Unfortunately, this is a very unpleasant and sad decision that the company has to make. Taking this strategic decision now will strengthen the company and secure work for the remaining number of staff. This will help us to continue to cement and improve our relationship with forest owners, customers and partners.
Despite the worldwide crisis we are very confident of the future and being part of Norvik Timber Industries we will continue to be a very interesting partner for both suppliers and customers,- Henrik Jarl says.
The number of staff that will be affected of this production reduction can reach up to 45 employees, but during the reduction process the management will do their utmost to reduce this number.
